Patriotic fervour marks India’s 80th Independence Day in Kuwait
The Embassy of India in Kuwait celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day today (August 15) with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. More than 2,000 members of the Indian community, distinguished guests, and friends of India participated in the celebrations, held this morning at the Embassy premises.
The celebrations commenced with the offering of floral tributes by H.E. Mrs. Paramita Tripathi, Ambassador of India to the State of Kuwait, at the ‘Shilaphalakam’ (commemorative memorial plaque dedicated to Indian freedom fighters) and the bust of Mahatma Gandhi, our Father of the Nation.
This was followed by the mass singing of India’s National Song, Vande Mataram, marking its 150 years. Ambassador hoisted the National Flag, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana.
The Address to the Nation by the Hon’ble President of India, delivered on the eve of the 80th Independence Day, was read out by Ambassador. It highlighted India’s achievements, aspirations and continued journey towards inclusive development and progress under Viksit Bharat 2047.
In her remarks, Ambassador Tripathi highlighted the close and longstanding India-Kuwait ties, marked by mutual respect, goodwill and strong people-to-people connections. She also appreciated the valuable contribution of the Indian community in Kuwait.
As part of the worldwide celebrations commemorating India@80, the Embassy joined Indian Missions across the world in the ‘Surya Path Tiranga’ global relay. The initiative celebrated the journey of the Tiranga, the Indian tricolour flag, across the globe as a symbol of national pride, unity and shared identity.
The Embassy also encouraged the attendees to participate in the ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiatives. Special photo points were set up at the venue during the event, where attendees took photos with the Indian tricolour flag.
In the run-up to the 80th Independence Day, the Embassy organised a series of initiatives to encourage community participation, including the “My India, My Story” Creative Campaign, “India Through My Lens” Photography Competition, and “Paint Your Vision of Viksit Bharat 2047” Painting Competition. The initiatives received enthusiastic participation from the Indian community in Kuwait. The winners of the three competitions were felicitated by Ambassador and presented with certificates.
Selected entries were also exhibited at the Embassy premises, showcasing the creativity, talent and patriotic spirit of the Indian community. Ambassador felicitated the winners of the Independence Day Special Bharat Ko Janiye (BKJ) Quiz.
The 80th Independence Day programme brought together members of the community in Kuwait in a celebration of India’s rich cultural diversity and shared national identity. The celebrations were followed by a cleanliness drive at the Embassy premises, reaffirming the values of “Swachhata Hi Seva” and underscoring the importance of cleanliness, civic responsibility and collective action.
