Police arrest Sri Lankan drug dealer, unlicensed Bangladeshi money changer
The Criminal Security Sector has arrested two expatriates in separate operations, uncovering a suspected drug-trafficking operation in Ardiya and an unauthorised currency-exchange business run by a gas station worker in Ahmadi.
In the first case, Farwaniya criminal investigators arrested a Sri Lankan expatriate working as a domestic driver, who allegedly exploited his job to distribute crystal methamphetamine while attempting to avoid suspicion. Investigators seized approximately 470 grams of crystal meth, a quantity of marijuana, a precision scale and cash from his possession and room.

Authorities also identified money transfers totalling 6,573 dinars to Sri Lanka. According to the Ministry of Interior, the suspect confessed to trafficking the seized drugs in coordination with an individual living abroad.
In a separate case, Ahmadi police arrested a Bangladeshi expatriate employed at a gas station for allegedly exchanging currency without a licence. The investigation also uncovered the sale of cigarettes, document-printing activities and possession of subsidised food supplies. Police seized multiple currencies, including 1,067 dinars, 5,021 Saudi riyals, 10 Qatari riyals and eight Bahraini dinars.

The Ministry of Interior said both suspects and the seized items had been referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
