The Saudi Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the 1447 AH Hajj season concluded without any epidemic outbreaks or public health threats, affirming that the overall health condition of pilgrims remained stable and reassuring throughout the pilgrimage period despite ongoing global health challenges.
The announcement followed the declaration by Prince Saud bin Mishaal, Vice Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah, who confirmed the success of this year’s Hajj season across all operational, organizational, and service sectors.
Saudi Health Minister Fahd Al-Jalajel said the absence of epidemic outbreaks during Hajj reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to safeguarding pilgrims’ health and demonstrates the preparedness and efficiency of the Saudi healthcare system in cooperation with various government agencies. He noted that the successful management of health risks came despite the emergence of several international disease outbreaks during the season.
The ministry explained that Hajj coincided with global epidemiological developments, including outbreaks of the Ebola Virus Disease in several countries and the detection of cases linked to the Hantavirus Infection in different parts of the world. These developments prompted heightened surveillance, continuous epidemiological investigations, and close coordination with national and international health authorities.
According to the ministry, no suspected or confirmed cases of Ebola, Hantavirus, or any other communicable diseases posing a public health threat were recorded among pilgrims during the Hajj season. Health authorities maintained round-the-clock preventive, therapeutic, emergency, and awareness services, supported by rapid response teams and extensive disease-monitoring systems.
The ministry emphasized that the health success of Hajj 1447 is a direct result of the support provided by the Saudi leadership and the mobilization of extensive human, technical, and organizational resources to ensure pilgrims could perform their rituals safely and with peace of mind.
The achievement further reinforces Saudi Arabia’s reputation for managing one of the world’s largest annual gatherings while maintaining the highest public health standards.
