Kuwait cracks down on media violations, refers seven outlets to authorities
. . . over false reporting and unverified news

The Ministry of Information announced on Thursday that it has referred seven media outlets to the competent authorities for clear violations of media laws and regulations, reaffirming its commitment to enforcing standards that govern responsible media practice.
In a press statement, the ministry said the move is part of its duty to uphold professional guidelines that ensure the integrity of media content, safeguard societal values, and maintain public order.
These efforts, it noted, are essential to strengthening the credibility of media messaging and reinforcing public trust.
The ministry explained that the violations included publishing inaccurate information and circulating news without verification from official or reliable sources, actions that directly breach established media regulations and undermine confidence in the country’s media landscape.
It stressed that it will take firm legal action against any outlet found violating the law, emphasizing that enforcement will be carried out transparently, fairly, and without exception.
The ministry also urged all media institutions to prioritize accuracy and credibility, adhere to professional standards, and rely on verified official sources to protect the public interest and uphold the role of responsible national media.
