Kuwait revokes citizenship of 146 in sweeping legal crackdown

Kuwait has issued two new decisions revoking the citizenship of a total of 146 persons, according to the latest supplement of the official gazette Kuwait Alyawm.

The rulings were made by the Higher Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship as part of ongoing reviews under the nationality law.

The first decision involves the withdrawal of citizenship from one woman, in accordance with Article 10 of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959 on Kuwaiti nationality and its amendments, Al-Anba daily reports.

The second and broader decision strips 145 individuals of their citizenship under Article 11 of the same decree, which governs cases related to nationality withdrawal.

These measures fall within Kuwait’s continued efforts to regulate and reassess citizenship files in line with legal provisions.
