KFF issues safety guidelines amid siren alerts
. . . remain calm and composed, head for shelters

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al-Hajji of the General Fire Force’s Public Relations and Media Department outlined key safety measures to follow when sirens sound, stressing that they signal a potential danger and require calm, responsible behavior.
Speaking to Kuwait TV, Al-Hajji urged the public to remain composed, avoid panic, and act with awareness. He revealed that seven routine incidents were recently reported, all of which were successfully handled before being referred to the relevant authorities for further procedures.
He emphasized the importance of avoiding hazardous areas and gatherings, and warned against standing near glass windows, staying in open spaces, or remaining on upper floors due to potential risks.
Al-Hajji advised residents to move to the basement if available, describing it as one of the safest places in a home. He also highlighted the importance of reassuring children and maintaining a calm environment within the family.
For those outside when sirens are heard, he cautioned against random running, instead urging individuals to head calmly to the nearest safe shelter and remain there until the alert ends.
He further highlighted the importance of preventive safety systems in homes, describing them as a critical line of defense. These include fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, safe emergency exits, and high-quality automatic circuit breakers to reduce fire risks.
Al-Hajji also called for installing comprehensive visual and audible alarm systems and preparing pre-planned emergency scenarios to enhance readiness and ensure the safety of residents under all circumstances.
