100 dinars fine for ‘unlicensed car sale’ displays on sidewalks
Municipality intensifies crackdown -- additional charges include towing fees 30 dinars for small vehicles and 45 dinars for larger vehicles

Faisal Al-Otaibi, Director of the Hygiene and Road Occupancy Department at the Capital Governorate Municipality branch, stated that inspection teams are carrying out daily field campaigns to monitor car showrooms and vehicles that are displayed illegally for sale on public roads and sidewalks.
In a statement to Al-Rai, Al-Otaibi said the inspection tours aim to verify the validity of road occupancy licenses and to remove neglected vehicles as well as cars offered for sale without official permits.
He stressed that displaying vehicles for sale without obtaining the required license is strictly prohibited and constitutes a violation of municipal regulations.
“Necessary legal measures will be taken against violators in accordance with applicable municipal laws,” he added.
Al-Otaibi explained enforcement procedures begin with issuing a three-day warning notice to offenders. Failure to comply results in a formal violation which carries a fine of 100 dinars.
Additional charges include towing fees of 30 dinars for small vehicles and 45 dinars for larger vehicles, along with a daily occupancy fee of one dinar per vehicle based on the space used.
He added that the Municipality coordinates closely with the Ministry of Interior during enforcement campaigns, noting that violators often face a “double violation,” with penalties issued separately by both authorities according to their respective regulations.
The intensified inspections form part of ongoing municipal efforts to regulate public spaces, prevent road obstructions, and maintain the orderly appearance and safety of streets across the Capital Governorate.
