Al-Ujairi Center says, Kuwait enters final phase of Al-Wasam

. . . Al-Zubana marks start of winter

The Al-Ujairi Scientific Center announced that Kuwait is currently in the final 13-day phase of the Al-Wasam season — the Al-Zubana period — which also marks the beginning of winter.

This phase will continue until December 6, bringing longer nights, shorter days, and colder winds.

In a press statement, the center explained that Al-Zubana is both the last stage of autumn and the first stage of winter, during which early signs of the winter solstice appear, reports Al-Rai daily.

Nighttime temperatures become noticeably cooler, while daytime conditions remain relatively mild.

The center noted that after the end of the Zubana phase, the rising of Al-Iklil will begin, marking the start of the forty-day cold period.

At the beginning of Zubana, the day lasts about 10 hours and 30 minutes, while the night extends to roughly 13 hours and 30 minutes.

By the end of the phase, nighttime length increases by 11 minutes, reaching 13 hours and 41 minutes. The center also recalled the saying of ancient Arabs that strong, cold northern winds typically blow during Zubana.
