PAM committed to upholding global anti-trafficking efforts

The Committee on the Prevention of Human Trafficking conducted an inspection of the “Housing for Female Inmates” and received updates on the upcoming center for male expatriate workers.

The tour included a visit to the dormitory and lodging hall, with committee representatives and Public Authority for Manpower officials. The visit occurred on January 24, 2024, at 10:00 pm, leaving a positive impression on Fahad Al-Murad, who highlighted Kuwait’s global leadership in implementing laws.

In the pursuit of preventing human trafficking and migrant smuggling, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Hashim Al-Qallaf, along with committee members, visited the Expatriate Worker Shelter Center in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Dr. Fahd Al-Murad, Acting Deputy Director General of the PAM Workforce Protection Sector, acknowledged the committee’s visit and emphasized the international recognition received by the center.

During the tour, the committee learned about the services provided, including healthcare, meals, and recreational activities for inmates.

Dr. Al-Murad expressed gratitude for the committee’s dedication to upholding the dignity and rights of expatriate workers. The committee received a detailed explanation of the procedures for receiving workers, ensuring their well-being in accordance with international laws.

The visit encompassed a thorough inspection of the center’s facilities, including activity and entertainment halls for female inmates. The committee also reviewed the steps taken to maintain cleanliness in inmates’ rooms, ensuring the adequacy of their supplies.

The center’s commitment to providing world-class accommodation for women was underscored, with plans underway to establish a new center for male expatriate workers.

The cooperative efforts of the committee were commended for aligning with Kuwait’s commitment to implementing laws and regulations on a global scale.
