The Turkish Ministry of Interior announced today that more than 411,000 Syrians have returned to their country “safely, voluntarily, with dignity, and in an orderly manner” since December 8, 2024.
The Anadolu Agency, citing sources from the ministry’s immigration department, said the total number of Syrians who have voluntarily returned to Syria since 2016 has reached 1,151,652.
The ministry added that the number of Syrians currently residing in Turkey under temporary protection has declined to 2,543,711, saying voluntary returns have accelerated following the fall of Syrian regime on December 8 of last year.
This development reflects ongoing shifts in migration patterns between Syria and Turkey and underscores Turkey’s continued focus on managing its temporary protection population.
