In a major infrastructure development, the Noida Authority of India has approved the construction of a new skywalk at the busy Model Town roundabout in Sector 62.
The project, estimated at Rs 43 crore, is expected to benefit over 800,000 daily commuters traveling between Noida and Ghaziabad, as well as from Delhi, Hapur, Bulandshahr, and Meerut.
The design, prepared by IIT experts, was recently cleared by Noida Authority CEO Dr. Lokesh M, and the tendering process is set to begin shortly, according to Indian news agencies.
Key Features of the Skywalk — Length: 530 meters; Width: 4 meters; Shape: Circular loop (“zero”) around Model Town roundabout; Connectivity: From Sector 62 to Sector 63 and Chhijarsi; Integration with existing foot over bridges near Khora Colony on the Delhi–Meerut Motorway; Link between Noida and Ghaziabad.
To enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility escalators will be installed on the Noida side and two elevators will be built at key access points along the Delhi–Meerut Expressway.
The project is expected to be completed within six months of tender finalization.
