TEC suspends marina transfer procedures to enforce new regulations and curb violations

In a strategic move to regulate the maritime sector and uphold legal standards, the Touristic Enterprises Company (TEC) has suspended all marina conversion and transfer procedures, effective July 2025. This suspension supports newly introduced amendments to marina usage regulations, forming part of a broader effort to address widespread violations.

TEC stated that the decision targets ongoing issues such as unauthorized subleasing of berths, monopolization of docking spaces and black-market trading of marina permits.

These practices have distorted fair access and breached the company’s operational guidelines and national laws.

TEC also expressed concern over a growing number of unlicensed advertisements circulating on social media and unofficial websites, offering the sale or rental of berths at TEC-managed marinas. The company described such activities as “clear violations” of administrative rules and legal frameworks, and warned the public against engaging with these unofficial channels.

The company emphasized that all currently vacant berths will be re-leased only after existing violations are addressed. A transparent reallocation system will be introduced and announced through official TEC platforms, ensuring equal access and fair treatment for all eligible applicants.

TEC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting justice, transparency, and equal opportunity in berth distribution, while fulfilling its responsibility to protect public assets and enforce lawful maritime operations.

In parallel with its regulatory efforts, TEC disclosed ongoing preparations for a major redevelopment of the Kuwait Yacht Club. The upgrade will bring the facility in line with international safety and infrastructure standards, aiming to enhance the experience for boaters, visitors, and beachgoers alike.

TEC concluded its announcement by urging citizens and residents to avoid unofficial marina-related deals and advertisements. The company stressed the importance of referring exclusively to its authorized communication channels for reliable information and updates.

This comprehensive initiative reflects TEC’s ongoing commitment to transparency, operational integrity, and the long-term sustainability of Kuwait’s coastal and recreational marine infrastructure.
