Al-Yousef, Basra Governor discuss security cooperation and border stability

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior reviews border security, inspects damage at Al-Abdali crossing, orders swift repairs

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef held talks with Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani to strengthen security coordination between Kuwait and Iraq, with discussions focusing on the latest regional security developments and measures to enhance border security.

The meeting was attended by senior security and military officials from Kuwait’s ministries of Interior and Defense.

Both sides reviewed areas of mutual cooperation and explored ways to deepen coordination to safeguard the shared border and advance the common interests of the two neighboring countries.

The discussions underscored the close fraternal ties between Kuwait and Iraq and reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to maintaining security and stability through continued cooperation.

Following the meeting, Sheikh Fahd visited the Al-Abdali border crossing, where he inspected damage sustained at the facility following the recent Iranian attack.

He directed the relevant authorities to carry out an immediate assessment of the damage and expedite repair work to ensure the crossing is reopened as quickly as possible.

The minister stressed the importance of restoring normal border traffic to facilitate the movement of people and goods and support economic and social ties between Kuwait and Iraq.
