MOI symposium addresses drug crisis; bridges reality with hope

In observance of the international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, the Ministry of Interior, through the Center for Quality Control, Scientific Research and Training, organized a symposium under the title ‘Drugs: Between Reality and Hope,’ at the Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences.

According to a ministry statement, the symposium was attended by Brigadier General Ali Al-Wahib, Director of the Saad Al-Abdullah Academy, along with several senior officials from the education and training sector. The gathering tackled the drug issue through four key thematic axes, reports Al-Rai daily.

The first axis focused on drugs from a scientific point of view, providing an evidence-based overview of the phenomenon; the second explored mechanisms for combating and confronting the drug crisis at both strategic and operational levels; the third approached the issue from a legal angle, addressing the challenges related to use, promotion, and trafficking and the fourth and final axis showcased practical experiences and best practices from experts actively engaged in the field.

The symposium highlighted the reality of drug abuse locally and globally and examined the security and health risks it poses.

The speakers emphasized the importance of community awareness and cooperation between security bodies and relevant institutions to tackle the issue effectively.

The participants also discussed future strategies for prevention and support, stressing the need to enhance integrated efforts to combat the spread of narcotics.

The event is part of the Academy’s broader academic and training initiatives, which aim to strengthen the capabilities of Ministry personnel in addressing socially rooted security challenges through research and proactive engagement.
