I saved Khamenei from a very ugly, humiliating death: Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that he prevented the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, warning that the United States will strike Tehran again if Iran continues enriching uranium to weapons-grade levels.

In a fiery statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump lashed out at Tehran for claiming victory in its conflict with Israel and dismissed Iranian assertions that recent U.S. strikes caused minimal damage, reports international news agencies.

He also accused Khamenei of ingratitude, stating, “I knew exactly where he was hiding, and I did not allow Israel or the U.S. military… to end his life. I saved him from a very ugly and humiliating death.”

Trump added that he had been considering easing sanctions on Iran but reversed course after receiving what he described as a “statement filled with anger, hatred, and disgust” from the Iranian leadership.

He urged Tehran to return to negotiations, warning that if uranium enrichment continues, “the United States will bomb Iran again — without a doubt.”

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi denied reports that nuclear talks with the U.S. were being resumed, contradicting Trump’s remarks at the NATO summit in The Hague suggesting upcoming negotiations.
