As global tensions escalate over Iran’s nuclear program, six U.S. Air Force B-2 stealth bombers—the only aircraft capable of delivering the powerful GBU-57 E/B bunker-busting bomb—have departed from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and are en route to the U.S. military base in Guam, according to Fox News and flight tracking data.
This unprecedented military movement comes as the world waits for U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision on whether to intervene militarily in response to the ongoing conflict and potentially launch a strike against Iran’s fortified nuclear facilities, such as Fordow, reports Al-Rai daily.
The B-2 Spirit is the only aircraft capable of penetrating deeply buried bunkers, carrying what has been called the “Mother of All Bombs.”
Amid speculation over a possible U.S. operation, Israel’s Channel 12 reported that if the United States refrains from attacking Fordow, Israel is prepared to strike it independently. The Fordow facility, located deep within a mountain, is one of the most heavily fortified components of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Military movements are not limited to the Pacific. Large U.S. aircraft reportedly departed from American bases a week ago toward Europe, as the Pentagon continues to reposition forces and assets. At the same time, dozens of aircraft have been withdrawn from bases in the Middle East, likely as a precaution against potential Iranian retaliatory strikes.
Further signaling a strategic escalation, a U.S. Navy official announced that the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford will depart Naval Station Norfolk on June 24 for a deployment to Europe, marking the third U.S. aircraft carrier to be stationed in or near the Middle East.
The USS Nimitz, previously anchored in the South China Sea, is already making its way through the region, while the USS Carl Vinson has been operating in Middle Eastern waters for months.
These rapid deployments suggest that Washington is laying the groundwork for a show of force or a potential military confrontation, depending on Trump’s ultimate decision—one that could reshape the geopolitical dynamics of the region.
