Arab League experts to convene over Kuwait’s hate speech law

The joint committee of experts from the member states will meet on Monday to discuss Kuwait’s draft law on preventing hate speech, finalizing its provisions over two days.

The Arab League announced that the joint committee of experts and representatives from the ministries of justice, interior, and relevant authorities in member states will convene for its fifth meeting on Monday to review the draft Arab model law to prevent hate speech, submitted by Kuwait, reported Arabic daily Al Rai.

Dr. Maha Bakhit, Director of the University’s Legal Affairs Department, stated in a press release on Sunday that the meeting follows the decision made during the 40th regular session of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers last November, which called for a final committee meeting to examine the draft law in light of feedback from Arab countries.

Bakhit explained that the meeting participants will discuss the provisions of the draft law proposed by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Justice over two days, noting that the final version of the draft law will be completed during this meeting.
