‘Work After Dark’: Kuwait shifts industrial operations to beat power crunch

In response to soaring temperatures and rising electrical demand, the Public Authority for Industry has called on industrial establishments in Kuwait to suspend operations during peak hours — from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.— as directed by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Authority emphasized that this measure is part of a broader national strategy to encourage rational consumption of electricity and water, contributing to sustainable development and reinforcing a collective sense of national responsibility.

To support the ongoing industrial operations, the Authority announced it would permit evening work beyond regular hours for businesses operating on single- or double-shift systems. However, it warned that legal action will be taken against violators of the directive.

The industrial facility owners have been urged to adopt efficiency-enhancing measures to optimize electricity and water use, with guidance provided to help them meet the requirements.
