  • A fiber network fault disrupted the Ministry of Electricity and Water’s electronic services, website, and apps, but the ministry is working to restore them.

A technical issue with the electrical voltage, caused by the failure of two main 132-volt feeders, led to the Doha East station going offline. The station’s protection systems activated, resulting in a minor fire in Unit No. 1, which was swiftly controlled with no injuries or significant damage.

Sources from the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy informed Al-Anba newspaper that the station is expected to be operational within two days.

The sources explained that the station’s total production capacity is 700 megawatts, noting that the incident did not impact the safety or stability of the electrical grid and did not cause any power outages. Efforts are underway to gradually restart the station. Separately, a technical fault in the fiber network caused the Ministry of Electricity and Water and Renewable Energy’s electronic services, website, and applications to stop working. Sources confirmed that the ministry is working to resolve the issue and restore these services for the public.

On the other hand, in response to several complaints from the Jahra area, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy confirmed that the quality of fresh water pumped into the network is monitored 24/7 through emergency centers across Kuwait’s six governorates. The ministry reassured customers that fresh water samples collected from various areas in Jahra Governorate have been tested and found to be satisfactory.

The ministry, in response to complaints from residents in some areas of Jahra Governorate about changes in the color of the fresh water reaching their homes, stated that it is conducting periodic maintenance of the water network to ensure water quality. It thanked citizens for their cooperation in the public interest.

The ministry urged anyone noticing any changes in water quality or experiencing reduced water pressure to report it via the unified call center at 152 or through the ministry’s official social media accounts. The ministry also called on everyone to obtain information from its official sources.
