Customs Foils Attempt to Smuggle 50 Chemical Soaked Sheets from Canada

Drug soaked A4 sheets weighing around 323 grams were concealed inside a child’s chair in an incoming postal shipment

The General Administration of Customs, through the Air Cargo Customs Department and in coordination with the Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate for Drug Control, foiled an attempt to smuggle 50 sheets of paper soaked in the narcotic substance known as ‘chemical’, weighing approximately 323 grams.

The sheets were professionally concealed inside a child’s chair in a postal package arriving from Canada. A suspect involved in the incident was arrested following the discovery.

The seizure was made after customs inspectors became suspicious of the shipment during routine checks of incoming mail. A thorough inspection revealed a bag containing A4 sized sheets soaked in the narcotic substance, hidden inside a drawer in the chair in an attempt to evade customs inspection.

Following the discovery, the Customs Investigation and Research Office coordinated with the General Directorate for Drug Control at the Ministry of Interior. The joint operation led to the suspect’s arrest and the preparation of an official report to complete the necessary legal procedures.

The General Administration of Customs carried out the operation under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, according to Al Rai.
