World Water Organization proposes establishing its regional headquarters in Kuwait

The Chairman of the Kuwait Water Association, Dr. Saleh Al-Muzaini, announced that the World Water Organization (WWO) has expressed its desire for the Kuwait Water Association (KWA) to serve as the organization’s regional headquarters for the Middle East and Arabian Gulf region. The move would position Kuwait as a central hub for advancing sustainable water initiatives across the region.
In a press statement, Dr. Al-Muzaini shared details of his recent meeting with Dr. Masaki Takaoka, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the World Water Conference—organized by Kyoto University and the World Water Organization—and Dr. Satoshi Takizawa, Chairman of the Conference’s Higher Committee and a member of the WWO Board of Directors, reports A-Jarida daily.
Dr. Al-Muzaini described the organization’s proposal as “an honor and a national responsibility,” emphasizing that it reflects Kuwait’s distinguished global standing and its pioneering role in promoting water awareness and sustainable development.\
He added that the association looks forward to deepening cooperation with the World Water Organization, benefiting from its scientific expertise, administrative experience, and specialized training programs to strengthen Kuwaiti national competencies in the water sector.
Dr. Al-Muzaini affirmed that hosting the regional headquarters would bolster Kuwait’s contribution to international water sustainability efforts and reinforce the government’s ongoing initiatives to raise environmental and water conservation awareness.
