Wanted man who stabbed officer during arrest attempt shot dead
A wanted man was shot dead after allegedly stabbing a police officer during an arrest attempt in the Ali Sabah Al-Salem area, the Ministry of Interior announced on Monday.
The ministry said a security patrol identified a man wanted by the authorities during routine operations in the Ali Sabah Al-Salem area. When officers attempted to arrest him, he allegedly resisted arrest, pulled out a knife and stabbed a security officer.
The officer sustained two stab wounds to the neck and thigh during the assault.
The ministry said security personnel responded in accordance with the law to repel the attack and neutralize the threat, opening fire on the assailant. Both the suspect and the injured officer were taken to hospital, reports Al-Rai daily.
The suspect later died from his injuries, while the officer underwent emergency surgery and remains under medical care.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the competent authorities have been notified and that legal procedures are underway. An investigation has been launched to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
