Citizen found guilty of inciting sedition, sympathizing with hostile state, gets 3 years

The State Security Court of Appeals has sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to three years in prison after convicting him of inciting sedition and expressing sympathy for a hostile state through posts published on the social media platform X.
The court overturned an earlier ruling that had refrained from imposing punishment and instead ordered the prison sentence.
In the same session, the court upheld the acquittal of another citizen accused of insulting a segment of society, as well as the acquittal of a second defendant charged with spreading false news regarding rising prices and shortages of food supplies during wartime in Kuwait.
The court also confirmed the acquittal of three citizens facing charges related to mourning activities and revoked previous rulings that had withheld punishment.
Additionally, the State Security Court of Appeals upheld decisions not to impose penalties on other citizens who had faced charges of inciting sedition and disseminating false news.
