Vigilant Customs officers foil weapons smuggling attempt at Abdali border

Personnel from the General Administration of Customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons and ammunition through the Abdali border crossing.

In a statement the customs department stated that “as part of the continuous efforts to prevent the entry and exit of prohibited items, the Abdali Customs inspectors foiled an attempt to smuggle unlicensed weapons and ammunition into the country.

The security authorities disclosed a Kuwaiti citizen coming from the Republic of Iraq has been taken into custody. The authorities seized from the man 2 unlicensed (Glock type 9 mm caliber) firearms and 50 bullets of the same caliber.

“In another incident, the inspection procedures resulted in the arrest of an Iraqi national working as a driver for transporting people while leaving Kuwait towards the Republic of Iraq.

The security authorities seized from his vehicle 1,395 (12-millimeter) shotgun bullets, hidden in secret places.

The seized items were referred to the Ministry of Interior,” the Customs statement added.
