Vietnamese Embassy in Kuwait opens condolence register for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong
Dozens of diplomats, community members, and citizens offered condolences, while the embassy lowered its flags to half-staff in mourning.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Kuwait has opened a register of condolences for Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, starting Wednesday morning and continuing for two days.
Dozens of heads of diplomatic missions, community members, and citizens came to offer their condolences. The embassy also lowered its flags to half-staff in mourning for the deceased.
A statement issued by the embassy noted that Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, made numerous significant and distinguished contributions to the Party and the nation during his nearly 60 years of service. The Party and the state honored him with the “Gold Star” medal, the 55-year Party membership badge, and many other high decorations and medals, recognizing his contributions both to Vietnam and globally.
He stated that the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is a significant loss to the Party, the state, the Vietnamese people, and their nation.
H.E. Zhang Jianwei, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kuwait, expressed his deep condolences on the death of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the esteemed leader Nguyen Phu Trong.
He added that the deceased contributed significantly to the development of his country and the improvement of his people’s lives, highlighting the strong strategic relations between China and Vietnam.
H.E. Sman Manan, Ambassador of Cambodia to Kuwait, also offered his deepest condolences on the death of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who made significant contributions to the development of his country.
Biography of the deceased
Nguyen Phu Trong was born on April 14, 1944, in Dong Hoi Town, Dong Anh District, Hanoi City. His permanent residence was at House No. 5, Thien Quang Street, Nguyen Du Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi City. He joined the Communist Party of Vietnam on December 19, 1967.
From April 2021 to the present, he served as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Central Public Security, as well as Chairman of the Central Steering Committee for Preventing and Combating Corruption and Negativity.
In recognition of his exceptionally great and distinguished contributions to the revolutionary progress of the Party and the nation, he was awarded numerous honors, including the Gold Star Medal from the Party and the State, the 55-Year Party Membership Badge, and several prestigious Vietnamese and international decorations. These include the ‘National Gold Medal’ from the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the ‘Friendship Medal’ from the Party and State of the People’s Republic of China, the ‘Lenin Prize,’ the highest award from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Russia, and the ‘José Martí Medal’ from the Party and State of the Republic of Cuba.
