Delegations from China and the United States held “frank” and “constructive” consultations in South Korea today (Wednesday), addressing trade issues, ahead of US President Donald Trump’s arrival in China.
The official Chinese news agency reported that the talks were held at Incheon Airport near Seoul, ahead of talks between the US and Chinese leaders on Thursday and Friday in Beijing.
China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met today in South Korea.
“Based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and cooperation on an equal footing, the two sides held frank, in-depth and constructive discussions focused on addressing trade and economic issues of concern to both countries, in addition to strengthening pragmatic cooperation,” said the news agency.
