The bilateral relations between Türkiye and Kuwait are experiencing rapid and substantial growth, particularly in the healthcare sector. This development is driven by a shared political will to strengthen cooperation across various fields.
Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait, HE Tuba Sonmez, in her remarks during an event organized by the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait under the tile ‘The Health Sector in Turkey: Advancing International Cooperation for a Healthier Future, Sonmez emphasized that healthcare cooperation stands out as one of the most promising areas of collaboration between the two countries.
The event, attended by senior officials from both nations’ health ministries, highlighted the progress already made and the opportunities for further strengthening ties in this sector.
The Turkish envoy pointed to the health cooperation protocol signed during the visit of Kuwait’s Minister of Health to Turkey in October 2023. This agreement, followed by reciprocal visits and technical meetings, has laid the foundation for deepening the relationship in the health sector.
The ambassador also expressed her satisfaction with the current visit of a Turkish Ministry of Health delegation to Kuwait. She noted that this visit is timely, providing an opportunity to build upon previous achievements and further advance the collaboration between the two nations.
She described the meetings held by the delegation as “productive” and believed they would significantly contribute to enhancing health cooperation between Türkiye and Kuwait.
Additionally, Sonmez highlighted Türkiye’s remarkable progress in the healthcare field, stating that the country has become a global leader in medical tourism. She attributed this success to Türkiye’s modern medical facilities, highly qualified professionals, diverse treatment options, and competitive pricing, making it an attractive destination for medical travelers worldwide.
