GTD outlines steps for online vehicle registration renewal
Motorists no longer need paper vehicle registration document

The Directorate-General of Traffic has confirmed that vehicle registration documents issued through the “My Identity” app are legally valid, and motorists are not required to carry the traditional paper vehicle registration booklet inside their vehicles.
In an awareness notice published on its official X account, the department also outlined the procedures for electronically renewing vehicle registration.
The process begins by accessing the “Third-Party Insurance” website, selecting an insurance company and completing the payment online. Once the payment is made, the insurance policy must be printed.
Motorists must then visit a vehicle inspection centre to complete the required procedures. The vehicle inspection process is subsequently carried out through the “Sahel” app.
The renewal can then be completed through the Ministry of Interior’s electronic services or the Traffic Department’s services by selecting the vehicle concerned and paying the prescribed renewal fees.
