Top 10 contractors in Kuwait execute projects worth $14.2 billion
- The ranking of the top 10 contracting companies in Kuwait highlights the significant construction activity taking place in the country.
- Turkish, Indian, and Chinese contractors are also making their presence felt in the market, while Saudi companies dominate the regional rankings.
MEED, a leading construction and project intelligence provider, has released its ranking of the top 10 contracting companies operating in the Kuwaiti market based on the value of their projects. These companies have executed local projects worth a total of $14.2 billion, highlighting the significant construction activity in the country.
Limak holds top spot with $5.6 billion projects
Turkish contractor Limak Holding has consolidated its position as a major player in the Kuwaiti market, with projects under execution worth approximately $5.6 billion. This represents a 600 million dollar increase from the $5 billion worth of projects the company had in hand when it topped the ranking in 2023.
Limak’s position and activities were further strengthened last year when the Ministry of Public Works in Kuwait awarded it additional construction work at Kuwait International Airport. The company secured the Contract for Package 3 of the expansion of Terminal Building 2, covering the construction of aircraft parking stands, taxiways, and service buildings.
Shapoorji Pallonji and CSCEC round out top three
Indian contractor Shapoorji Pallonji follows in second place with projects valued at $1.4 billion. The company is executing two healthcare projects and a third educational project in a joint venture with local firm Al-Saker General Trading & Contracting, which itself has projects worth $1.4 billion under execution in Kuwait.
China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) is the only other non-Kuwaiti company among the top ten, ranking fourth with projects worth $1.3 billion under execution. The company’s largest project is the infrastructure works for the South Saad Al-Abdullah residential city.
Remaining top 10 contractors
The remaining top 10 contracting companies in Kuwait are all Kuwaiti firms, with projects valued as follows:
- Al-Saker General Trading & Contracting: $1.4 billion
- Warah Construction: $0.8 billion
- Gulf United Construction: $0.7 billion
- First General Trading & Contracting Group: $0.5 billion
- Al-Moasher Joint Venture: $0.5 billion
Naseema Partners most active contractor in region
On a regional scale, MEED data reveals that Saudi Arabian contractor Naseema & Partners is the most active contractor, with projects worth $14.7 billion under execution. In 2023, the company topped the regional ranking with $5.3 billion worth of projects under execution, a figure that would not even place it within the top ten this year.
Dubai-based contractor ALEC occupies the tenth position this year with projects worth $6 billion under execution.
Saudi presence dominates regional rankings
The presence of five Saudi contracting companies among the top ten reflects the substantial construction activity underway in the Kingdom. Four of these companies – Al Bawani, Al Mobaiyad, Al Seif, and Naseema – are those in which the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has invested. The remaining company is Arabian Peninsula Contracting Company.
