• Oil Minister honours outstanding national talents, stresses importance of skills and professional development

Oil Minister Tariq Al-Roumi has stressed that investment in human capital is the cornerstone of institutional development, emphasizing that institutional success depends on qualified personnel who can harness their expertise and knowledge and translate ambitions into tangible achievements that serve organizational goals.
Al-Roumi made the remarks during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Oil on Wednesday to honor outstanding employees under the theme “We are proud of you”, at the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company Theatre. The event was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Sheikh Dr. Nimer Fahd Al-Malik Al-Sabah, assistant undersecretaries, ministry officials and employees.
He said the recognition of national talents was an expression of appreciation for their dedicated efforts and outstanding achievements, which have contributed to developing the work system and improving institutional performance. These accomplishments, he noted, reflect the sense of responsibility, initiative and commitment to excellence demonstrated by ministry employees in carrying out their duties.
Al-Roumi pointed out that national competencies within the Ministry of Oil have demonstrated their ability to shoulder responsibility, keep pace with development requirements and set exemplary standards in professional commitment and teamwork. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing a stimulating work environment and creating opportunities for employees to develop their capabilities and enhance their skills.
He added that the ministry continues to advance its institutional framework through digital transformation programs, the modernization of systems and procedures, and efforts to improve operational efficiency.
However, he stressed that progress in these areas cannot be achieved through technology and systems alone, but requires qualified human resources and expertise capable of using them effectively to improve the quality and efficiency of work.
The minister also congratulated ministry employee Sarah Al-Zayed of the Inspection and Audit Department on obtaining the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification, one of the internationally recognized professional certifications in internal auditing. He said the achievement reflected her commitment to acquiring specialised knowledge and strengthening her professional qualifications.
Al-Roumi expressed hope that Al-Zayed’s experience would inspire her colleagues and encourage them to pursue further training and professional certifications, opening wider opportunities for career advancement while strengthening the ministry’s capabilities across its various areas of work.
Congratulating all the employees honored at the ceremony, the minister praised their contributions and dedication, describing them as a reflection of the wealth of qualified national talent within the ministry. He stressed the importance of continuing to encourage individual and collective initiatives that contribute to improving workplace performance.
The Ministry of Oil affirmed its commitment to developing the capabilities of national personnel in line with the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and with the support of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. These efforts aim to enhance the efficiency of state institutions and support the country’s national development process.
Addressing the honorees at the conclusion of his speech, Al-Roumi said: “We are proud of you and your contributions, and we trust in your abilities to continue progressing and achieving more. You are the foundation of the Ministry of Oil’s success, and through your efforts, its development continues.”
The ceremony also featured a visual presentation of the ministry’s achievements, delivered by its virtual presenter, “Nouf”, highlighting key initiatives undertaken to develop the work system and improve institutional performance.
