Kuwait braces for scattered thundery rain, dust and reduced visibility
• Meteorological Department warns of visibility dropping below 1,000 metres in some areas • Rain, strong winds and poor visibility expected in parts of Kuwait

Kuwait is expected to experience scattered rainfall, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms, from around midnight as a humid low-pressure system affects the country, Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Darrar Al-Ali said on Wednesday.
Al-Ali told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical forecasting models indicate an increase in low- and medium-level clouds, interspersed with cumulonimbus formations that could bring scattered rain and occasional thunderstorms.
He warned that the unstable weather would be accompanied by dust-raising winds, potentially reducing horizontal visibility to less than 1,000 metres in some areas.
Winds are expected to blow from the southeast before becoming variable in direction, generally light to moderate but occasionally strengthening and stirring up dust, further affecting visibility. Al-Ali also cautioned that sea waves could exceed six feet, while rainfall is expected to range from light to moderate in intensity.
He said weather conditions are expected to improve gradually from Thursday afternoon. Advising people with asthma and allergies to take precautions, Al-Ali urged them to wear masks when going outdoors, particularly amid thunderstorms and high humidity.
He also called on the public to follow the latest weather updates through the Meteorological Department’s official website, mobile application and social media accounts.
