Rainfall expected to last until today evening in Kuwait

Kuwait has been experiencing rain since yesterday, 7th January, with varying intensity across different regions of the country.

The Director of the Meteorology Department, Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi, told Al-Jarida that rain has been ongoing in the country since yesterday and is expected to continue until the early evening hours.

Al-Qarawi explained that this weather condition is a result of the region being affected by the seasonal Sudan depression, which is accompanied by a relatively warm and humid air mass, leading to the formation of rain clouds.

Moreover, Al-Qarawi pointed out that the rainfall amounts recorded today ranged from 2 mm to 7 mm across various regions of the country, emphasizing that weather conditions are being closely monitored, with continuous updates on the data.

Al-Qarawi urged citizens and residents to follow the instructions issued by the relevant authorities and exercise caution during this period.

Sources from the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport, confirmed that the country’s expressways did not experience rainwater accumulations, noting that the rainfall was at low rates compared to the capacity of the rainwater drainage network.

They stated that there is continuous coordination between the Authority and the Meteorology Department to monitor the rainfall situation.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Public Works deployed water lifting machines in several internal areas of the governorates, at the start of the rainy season, and developed a plan to address critical areas where water accumulations are expected during the rainy season.
