New control tower and runway marks a qualitative leap in Kuwait’s air transport system: Premier

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, affirmed that the government places great importance on developing airport infrastructure and enhancing operational capabilities to strengthen the national economy and facilitate both air and commercial traffic in Kuwait.

His Highness emphasized that the inauguration and operation of the new control tower and third runway at Kuwait International Airport represent a qualitative shift in the national air transport system, reflecting the state’s commitment to realizing its comprehensive development vision.

During the official opening ceremony, which he patronized and attended, His Highness was briefed on the modern air traffic control systems installed in the new tower and inspected the third runway, which is equipped to accommodate all types of aircraft, including the latest large-capacity models. The new runway will officially commence operations on October 30.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Director General of Public Authority Civil Aviation Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, and a number of senior state officials.

In a related statement, Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, PACA Director General, affirmed that the project embodies effective cooperation between state institutions in implementing major strategic projects.

He noted that this achievement aligns with the latest international standards in civil aviation and air navigation, underscoring Kuwait’s national capabilities in executing complex infrastructure projects with the highest levels of technical and technological excellence.

He further emphasized that the government’s continued support for the development projects at Kuwait International Airport reinforces the country’s standing as a regional hub for transportation and logistics services, in line with its broader vision for sustainable development.
