New anti-corruption board sworn in as Amir stresses rule of law, accountability
Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received newly appointed members of the Board of Trustees of the Public Authority for Combating Corruption (Nazaha), who took the constitutional oath before him.
The meeting was held in the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, along with Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait.
The new board includes Dr. Rana Al-Fares as Chairperson, Dr. Majed Al-Daihani as Vice Chair, and members Rania Al-Faleej, Dr. Abdullah Al-Dabbous, and Dhi Al-Otaibi, reports Al-Rai daily.
In an address delivered on the occasion, the Amir congratulated the members on the confidence placed in them and underscored the importance of their responsibilities at a critical stage requiring intensified national efforts.
He reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to promoting transparency and integrity, as well as implementing the United Nations Convention against Corruption and related international frameworks. He stressed the need to protect public institutions from bribery, abuse of power and undue influence, while safeguarding whistleblowers and encouraging community participation.
The Amir called on the new board to build on existing achievements and adopt strategies aligned with international best practices, emphasizing the importance of strengthening oversight tools, enhancing cooperation with regulatory and judicial bodies, and fostering a culture of accountability.
He further highlighted that combating corruption is a cornerstone of national stability and sustainable development, particularly amid evolving regional political, security and economic challenges.
Reaffirming the leadership’s support, the Amir stressed the need to uphold justice and equality, applying the law fairly to all without exception, and ensuring transparency remains the foundation of institutional work.
He concluded by expressing confidence that the new board would contribute meaningfully to Kuwait’s reform efforts and help advance a governance framework rooted in integrity, accountability and the rule of law.
