Factory busted for selling expired fish and shrimp sold as ‘fresh’ product

The Capital Governorate Inspection Department of the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition in the presence of the Deputy Director General for Inspection and Control Affairs, carried out a joint inspection campaign in coordination with the Security Directorate and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The operation led to the raid of a factory in the Ashairij area that was found storing and distributing non-compliant food products.

Authorities seized approximately 28,900 kilograms of spoiled fish and 372 kilograms of frozen Iranian shrimp which were marketed as fresh, and around 18,204 kilograms of the same product prepared for sale under the same misleading claims.

Refrigerated trucks used to sell these products directly to consumers and distribute across local markets were also impounded.
