GTD tightens grip on road safety, security

Kuwait’s General Directorate of Traffic has intensified its operational preparedness, launching a renewed drive to strengthen field readiness and sharpen security coordination as authorities work to ensure a faster and more effective response to evolving traffic and public safety challenges.

The move follows a high-level coordination meeting chaired by Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs, Brigadier General Ahmed Fahd Al-Azmi, who met with field commanders from across the Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector to review operational plans, assess preparedness levels, and streamline emergency response mechanisms.

Officials focused on improving coordination between field units, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring that security procedures are implemented swiftly and effectively across the country.

The meeting was held in implementation of directives issued by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Abdul Wahab Al-Wahib, during a recent gathering of senior military and security leaders.

The directives called for unified efforts among security agencies, stronger inter-agency coordination, and the translation of strategic plans into practical field operations.

Brigadier General Al-Azmi stressed that maintaining a high state of readiness is essential to safeguarding public safety and ensuring smooth traffic operations.

He urged all departments to convert the ministry’s directives into effective on-the-ground action, reinforcing the Traffic Department’s ability to respond efficiently to operational requirements while enhancing security performance nationwide.
