Municipality approves amendment request for KDIPA headquarters
The Kuwait Municipality has given nod for a request from the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority to modify certain provisions of the Municipal Council’s decision concerning the authority’s headquarters in the Sharq region.
Eng Saud Al-Dabbous, the municipality director, confirmed in a Technical Opinion that the submitted request aligns with regulations and laws. The amendment to Clause No. 4 of the allocation decision entails a construction rate of 520 percent, designating the plot for government use rather than commercial, and adhering to site heights in accordance with the area or street where the plot is situated. Commercial exploitation within the building is strictly prohibited, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Al-Dabbous elaborated that the Authority sought amendments to two items in the decision allocating the location of its main building in Plot 2 in the Sharq area, spanning an area of 3,960 square meters.
The municipality approved the amendment to Item No. 1 of the decision, which now includes provisions for car parking within the site. Specifically, a car parking space is to be provided for every 30 square meters of total administrative office space and for every 10 square meters of the building’s total outdoor meeting room space, all within the project’s boundaries.
Al-Dabbous emphasized the importance of adhering to the remaining requirements outlined in Council Resolution No. 2016/274/15, adopted on December 28, 2016, for aspects not explicitly addressed in this decision.
