MoI arrests 6 in separate drug cases, foils 5kg crystal meth smuggling attempt

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced Saturday that six persons were arrested in separate operations for possessing psychotropic substances with intent to sell and use, as part of intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking and uphold the rule of law.
The Directorate-General for Drug Control, under the Criminal Security Sector, carried out the arrests and seized a range of narcotics, including 1,700 Lyrica capsules, three grams of shabu, 500 grams of hashish, 400 ml of chemical oil, 50 grams of cocaine and 30 grams of other chemical substances.
Authorities also confiscated an electronic shisha containing chemical oil, drug paraphernalia and empty sachets prepared for distribution.
In a separate case, the MoI said authorities successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of liquid crystal methamphetamine into the country via air freight.
The operation was conducted in coordination with anti-narcotics authorities in the United Arab Emirates and in cooperation with the General Administration of Customs. One suspect was arrested in possession of five kilograms of liquid meth.
The ministry confirmed that all necessary legal measures have been taken, with the suspects and seized items referred to the competent authorities. It reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against drug trafficking, stressing that security campaigns will continue to track down violators and safeguard society.
