Ministry monitors 22 kiosks during Ramadan inspection, removes ten

The Ministry of Affairs monitored 11 restaurants for soliciting donations for Iftar meals via social media.

  • The ministry noted 23 violations in mosques, including advertisements for collecting donations for Iftar meals, executing charitable projects, and not aligning imams’ schedules with mosque associations’ distribution schedules.

The latest report from the Ramadan inspection teams of the Ministry of Affairs covers the period from Ramadan 21 to Ramadan 27. It disclosed the monitoring of 22 clothing collection kiosks and the removal of 10 others. Additionally, 11 restaurants were monitored for soliciting donations for Iftar meals via social media.

The report received by Al-Anbaa newspaper highlighted that field inspection teams conducted 336 visits to mosques and 32 visits to charitable organizations’ headquarters for donation collections.

Furthermore, the report mentioned monitoring 47 advertisements from charities, foundations, and other entities that didn’t adhere to advertising regulations. Charities were contacted to prevent violations. Additionally, 23 violations in mosques were noted, including advertisements for collecting donations for Iftar meals, executing charitable projects, and not aligning imams’ schedules with mosque associations’ distribution schedules. These issues were addressed by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

The report mentioned that inspection teams monitored nine violations where individuals and entities solicited donations through social media ads. The Public Prosecution was informed about these cases.

Additionally, three violations were observed for individuals and entities soliciting donations through street advertisements, and the Ministry of the Interior was notified. Moreover, four violations were noted on various social media platforms promoting fundraising, prompting contact with the Telecommunications Authority.
