Mexico is keen to further strengthen its partnership with Kuwait and expand cooperation across political, economic, cultural and other areas of mutual interest, Mexican Ambassador to Kuwait Eduardo Patricio Peña Haller has said.
Speaking on the occasion of Mexico’s Independence Day, Ambassador Haller reaffirmed Mexico’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship, mutual respect and cooperation between the two countries.
“Mexico and Kuwait share a relationship founded on mutual respect, constructive dialogue and a common commitment to international cooperation,” Haller said, adding that Mexico looks forward to continuing to build bridges between the two countries and identifying new opportunities that can benefit their peoples.
Diplomatic relations between Mexico and Kuwait were established in 1975, and have expanded steadily over the past five decades across political, economic, cultural and people-to-people dimensions. The 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, marked in 2025, provided an opportunity for both countries to highlight the depth of their ties and renew their commitment to closer bilateral cooperation.
The ambassador said Mexico attaches great importance to its relations with Kuwait and values the country’s constructive role in promoting dialogue, peaceful settlement of disputes and international cooperation.
Mexico also remains committed to working closely with Kuwait through the United Nations and other multilateral forums in support of peace, sustainable development, international law and effective multilateralism.
The two countries are also looking to broaden cooperation in new areas. The Embassy has highlighted opportunities linked to the FIFA World Cup 2026, which Mexico is co-hosting with Canada and the United States. Matches will be held in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey.
The tournament, the Embassy said, offers an opportunity to promote cultural exchange, tourism and closer understanding between peoples, while also creating scope for greater cooperation between Mexico and Kuwait in football, youth development, sports training, exchanges of expertise and institutional cooperation.
The Mexican Embassy expressed appreciation to the government and people of Kuwait for their continued friendship, hospitality and support, as well as for the welcoming environment extended to the Mexican community in the country.
Mexico also reaffirmed its determination to deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation with Kuwait and extended its wishes for the country’s continued prosperity, stability and well-being.
