Qasim emphasized that this achievement results from the Ministry of Health’s continuous efforts to enhance the quality of obstetric anesthesia and maternal medicine services, reaffirming its commitment to the highest standards of maternal and child healthcare.

She explained that the accreditation is part of the Centers of Excellence Program by the International Society of Obstetric Anesthesia and Maternity Medicine, based in the United States, which recognizes institutions and programs that provide exceptional obstetric anesthesia care and improve healthcare services for pregnant women.

She stated that the accreditation process was based on a comprehensive evaluation of clinical practices, with the department undergoing a rigorous and transparent review by three independent reviewers from the Society’s Centers of Excellence Committee. The evaluation results were then discussed, and the final decision was approved by the Centers of Excellence Subcommittee.

Comprehensive and safe medical care for women

Qasim emphasized that the Maternity Hospital boasts distinguished national medical expertise, along with the latest advanced equipment and technologies, enabling it to provide comprehensive and safe medical care for women during pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond.

She added that this accreditation serves as an incentive to further develop medical services at the hospital and strengthen its position as a leading center in obstetric anesthesia and maternal intensive care, ensuring the highest levels of safety and comfort for patients in line with international standards.

She expressed her deep gratitude to the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, and the ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, for their continuous support and commitment to advancing healthcare services, particularly in obstetric anesthesia and maternal intensive care.

She also extended her sincere appreciation to Dr. Hoda Al-Foudari, Head of the Anesthesia, Intensive Care, and Pain Management Departments, as well as the department’s staff, the Maternity Hospital Administration in the Sabah Specialized Medical District, and all relevant sectors and departments. She praised their teamwork and dedication, which played a key role in achieving this distinction.
