Massive Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh operation enters major phase as authorities evacuate hundreds of buildings
Kuwait’s largest multi-agency inspection and enforcement campaign in recent years intensified overnight in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, with security forces evacuating hundreds of buildings as authorities widened their crackdown on safety, residency, labor and municipal violations.
The operation, led by the Ministry of Interior under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, involves personnel from the Kuwait Army, National Guard and several government agencies working under a comprehensive plan to restore order in one of the country’s most densely populated districts.
According to information from the field, the campaign targets more than 1,000 residential buildings, with approximately 350 buildings already evacuated since the operation began.
Residents and workers were systematically evacuated before authorities commenced inspections. The process was carried out under tight security, with occupants escorted from buildings and transported by specially designated buses to temporary accommodation centers.
Officials said the evacuation was conducted in an organized manner to ensure the safety of residents while allowing inspection teams to carry out detailed checks on buildings suspected of multiple violations.
The overnight security operation focused on properties identified as posing risks to public safety and security. Authorities are conducting comprehensive inspections covering a broad spectrum of violations, including:
- Environmental violations
- Residential and building violations
- Municipal violations
- Residency and labor law violations
- Illegal street vendors and hawkers
- Encroachments on state property
- Health violations in shops and warehouses
- Buildings and establishments violating safety regulations
- Security violations and wanted persons
The campaign also aims to identify overcrowded accommodations, unauthorized building modifications, unsafe structures, illegal commercial activities operating inside residential buildings, and violations of fire and public health regulations.
The Ministry of Interior has stressed that the campaign forms part of a wider government strategy to enforce the law, improve public safety, and address long-standing issues affecting Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Multiple government agencies are participating in the operation, including Kuwait Municipality, the Public Authority for Manpower, the Kuwait Fire Force, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and other regulatory bodies.
Authorities have indicated that inspections will continue over the coming days until all targeted buildings have been examined and the necessary legal measures taken against violators.
The large-scale operation marks one of the most comprehensive enforcement campaigns ever undertaken in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and reflects the government’s determination to tackle illegal activities, improve living conditions, and enhance security across the area.
