Kuwait’s new traffic law to take effect from April 22, 2025

The Interior Ministry is preparing to launch a robust awareness campaign as it gears up for its implementation.

The Ministry of Interior has unveiled a new awareness campaign aimed at informing the public about recent amendments to certain provisions of the traffic law.

Furthermore, the Ministry announced in a press statement that an awareness campaign will be launched following the issuance of Decree-Law No. “5” of 2025. This law amends certain provisions of Decree-Law No. 67 of 1976 related to traffic regulations. The new amendments are set to take effect 90 days after April 22, and the awareness campaigns will continue until the law’s implementation.

The purpose of this campaign is to help citizens and residents understand the key provisions of the updated law and to enhance adherence to traffic regulations, all in the interest of improving road safety.

The Ministry mentioned that the campaign will utilize both traditional media like press, television, radio and social media platforms to ensure that awareness messages effectively reach every segment of society.

The existing sanctions will stay in place until the new ones are implemented. The Ministry urged everyone to thoroughly review and adhere to the amendments, highlighting that following the laws is a shared responsibility that helps safeguard lives and property.

The Ministry announced that traffic updates will be shared in multiple languages, and they will organize media meetings with officials to highlight the significance of these amendments in minimizing accidents and promoting a safer traffic environment.

The Ministry of Interior, through the General Directorate of Security Relations and Information, consistently shares educational awareness campaigns prior to the implementation of any decision, which is truly commendable.
