Kuwait’s ministry ready for emergencies in regional tensions

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy has already enacted an emergency plan, which includes securing the stations and ensuring water security.

Informed sources at the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy have stated that the ministry has an emergency plan prepared to address the exceptional circumstances currently affecting the region.

The sources confirmed that the ministry has already implemented an emergency plan since the outbreak of tension in the region last week, anticipating any potential occurrence and coordinating with various concerned state agencies. They pointed out that the plan includes securing the stations and ensuring water security.

The sources noted that the strategic reserve is in good condition, with the strategic reserve of fresh water estimated at 4,613.8 million gallons. Additionally, a plan is being developed to withdraw from the reserve in case of need, with sufficient quantity for the longest possible period.

The sources explained that Kuwait does not depend solely on desalination; there is also a reserve of groundwater.

The ministry announced earlier that the current installed production capacity of groundwater wells has reached about 142 million imperial gallons per day, with an average daily consumption of about 56.856 million imperial gallons.

They pointed out that coordination is being made with various state agencies to activate the emergency plan if needed.
