Kuwait to welcome spring as winter ends this Saturday

Kuwait will bid farewell to winter starting Saturday as Hameem season begins, bringing fluctuating weather with rising temperatures, occasional rain, and dust storms. This period, leading up to spring equinox on March 20, marks the transition toward summer.

The Al-Ajari Scientific Center announced that winter and cold weather will end starting next Saturday, with temperatures moderating and the first signs of spring appearing through plants.

The center stated that this shift marks the start of the Hameem season, lasting until April 2nd, which follows the Scorpion season and precedes the Dhiraan season.

Furthermore, the center highlighted that the Hameem season is known for its weather fluctuations, causing atmospheric instability with a mix of cold, heat, rain, and dust. This period sees scattered rainfall, occasional dust storms, and a gradual rise in temperatures, often accompanied by thunderstorms and cumulus clouds.

The center explained that the Hameem season is divided into two phases: the first Hameem and the second, known as the Hameemeen. Moreover, in the middle of this period, day and night become equal, coinciding with the spring equinox, this falls on March 20 of this year.

The center elaborated that the equal length of day and night aligns with the sun’s direct position over the equator, marking its gradual shift northward.

While minor variations exist depending on latitude, two primary factors influence the duration of daylight: the sun’s tilt relative to the equator and geographical positioning.

This equilibrium occurs globally when the sun is positioned over the equator, but as one moves further away, the contrast between day and night lengthens. With the arrival of the Hameem season, the sun transitions into the summer phase, which unfolds in stages—starting, intensifying, and ultimately concluding—with the second phase of Hameem marking the true onset of summer.
