Kuwait Surgeons Association honors excellence in surgery at Fifth Annual Awards Ceremony

The Kuwait Surgeons Association hosted its fifth annual awards ceremony at the Jumeirah Hotel, celebrating outstanding achievements in the field of surgery. The prestigious event was attended by a distinguished gathering of healthcare leaders, including guest of honor Sheikha Intisar Al-Salem, former Minister of Health Dr. Mohammad Al-Jarallah, Chairman of the Medical Liability Authority Sheikh Dr. Salman Al-Sabah, and Assistant Secretary General of the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties for Specialized Colleges Dr. Abdullah Rajab.
Also present were Professor Musa Khorshid, President of the Kuwait Surgical Association, and Dr. Shahab Akrouf, President of the Surgeons Association, along with prominent figures from both the public and private medical sectors, reports Al-Rai daily.
In her remarks, Dr. Asmaa Al-Rashed, a consultant in general surgery, bariatric laparoscopic surgery, and intensive care at Al-Amiri Hospital and the Kuwait Female Surgeons Foundation, highlighted the significance of the Female Surgeons Awards Program. She emphasized its goal to instill pride among female surgeons and to honor their invaluable contributions across various surgical disciplines, motivating them to continue advancing in their fields.
Dr. Al-Rashed detailed the award categories, which included the Junior Surgeon Award, the Ideal Resident Physician Award, the Best Scientific Researcher Award, and the Surgical Training Graduation Awards. New categories introduced this year included the Clinical Excellence Award, the Academic Excellence Award, and the Human Hope Award, which recognizes volunteer medical work conducted outside Kuwait. The event also featured the Women’s Ally in Surgery Award, dedicated to professionals who actively support and empower women in surgical leadership roles.
