Kuwait extends Jahra Pumping Station contract for seventh time to prevent service disruptions

The Ministry of Public Works has extended the contract for the operation and maintenance of the Jahra main pumping station and its associated sewage lines for the seventh time, as the alternative tender for managing and developing the facility remains under review by regulatory authorities.
According to reports, the ministry received approval from the Central Agency for Public Tenders for the seventh extension of the existing contract with a company for a seven-month period beginning April 20, 2026, at a total cost of approximately 284,000 dinars.
The extension was granted to ensure the uninterrupted operation and maintenance of the station until procedures for awarding the new tender are finalized.
The ministry stressed the urgent need to maintain sewage services and avoid any disruption to related infrastructure operations while the new tender process continues. The upcoming tender, identified as “H/S/233,” has already been approved by the Board of Directors of the Central Agency for Public Tenders to be offered through a public announcement.
Sources revealed that the tender for the management, development and operation of the Jahra pumping station and its associated facilities is valued at nearly 1.864 million dinars and covers a 36-month implementation period. However, the project is still being reviewed by the State Audit Bureau before final approval procedures are completed.
The project forms part of the Ministry of Public Works’ annual plan for supply, contracting and service agreements aimed at improving the efficiency of Kuwait’s infrastructure facilities and ensuring the sustainability and continuity of essential public services.
