Kuwait explores digital infrastructure enhancement with Google Cloud’s Vice President
Kuwait’s Minister of State for Communication Affairs, Omar Al-Omar, met with Anthony Cirot, Google Cloud’s Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, on Wednesday to discuss advancing Kuwait’s digital infrastructure.
In a statement to KUNA, Minister Al-Omar shared that the meeting focused on strengthening the partnership between Kuwait’s Ministry of Communication and Google Cloud in telecommunications and technology. Key topics included knowledge exchange, implementation of best practices, and exploring the latest technological solutions.
Discussions also addressed the framework agreement signed in 2023 between Google Cloud and the Kuwaiti government, which aims to bolster strategic cooperation and drive digital transformation in Kuwait. The establishment of Google Cloud’s Kuwait office in July 2023, licensed by the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, marks the company’s commitment to Kuwait’s digital growth, as it provides innovative solutions to enhance the nation’s digital infrastructure.
Both sides emphasized the importance of forming strategic partnerships that benefit various sectors and contribute to the “New Kuwait 2035” vision, which seeks to promote digital transformation and foster a smart, sustainable economy. They highlighted the role of workshops and training programs in developing local talent and advancing technical skills, supporting Kuwait’s broader digital goals.
Cirot praised Kuwait’s commitment to digital transformation and reiterated Google Cloud’s support for the “New Kuwait 2035” vision. He underscored Google Cloud’s readiness to deliver cutting-edge cloud computing and artificial intelligence solutions, as well as capacity-building initiatives, to help Kuwait build a sustainable and thriving digital economy.
