Kuwait declares war on unlicensed trade in residential areas

In a bold and sweeping move to protect public safety and restore order, Kuwait’s security forces organized a high-impact, multi-agency campaign against unauthorized commercial establishments operating inside residential homes in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
Led under the direct supervision of Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, the operation was spearheaded by the Criminal Security Sector, in full coordination with the Kuwait Fire Force, the Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Public Works, the Environment Public Authority, and the Public Authority for Manpower.
Over a five-day sweep, the crackdown uncovered 40 violating properties and issued 89 citations for unlicensed commercial activities. Power was disconnected from several illegal operations to prevent safety hazards in densely populated residential areas, and more shutdowns are imminent.
During the campaign the security authorities nabbed 147 people wanted by law including one suspect wanted in a theft case, 29 reported absconding by their sponsors and 117 violators of residency and labor laws.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that this operation is part of a wider, ongoing national strategy to eliminate threats posed by unlawful activities in residential zones. Authorities have vowed to continue these field campaigns, tightening the net around violators and reinforcing Kuwait’s commitment to law, order, and community safety.
