Kuwait bids farewell to Hayat Al-Fahad, a quiet goodbye to a six-decade artistic legacy
The Ministry of Information mourned the passing of the esteemed artist Hayat Al-Fahad, who died on Tuesday after a distinguished artistic and humanitarian career spanning more than six decades in service of art and culture in Kuwait and the Gulf region.
The iconic Kuwaiti actress, widely known as the “Lady of the Gulf Screen”, died at the age of 78 after a prolonged illness, in a loss that has reverberated across the Arab artistic community.
Born in Kuwait in 1948, Al Fahad is regarded as one of the Arab world’s most influential television and stage figures. Her career spans acting, broadcasting, writing, and producing, with celebrated credits including the beloved television series Khalti Qumasha, Ruqiya wa Sabika, Jarh Al Zaman, and ‘Ndama Tu’Gany Al Zuho.
In a press statement, the Ministry said that the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Omar Al-Omar, and all Ministry staff extend their deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the family of the deceased, recalling her significant contributions that enriched the Kuwaiti and Gulf artistic scene and established her as a pioneer of the arts.
The Ministry of Information noted that the late artist began her artistic career at a young age, presenting dozens of theatrical and television works that addressed societal issues with sincerity and depth.
She was distinguished by her exceptional performance and powerful presence, which contributed to solidifying her position as one of the most prominent figures in Gulf drama.
The Ministry added that the late artist was known for her unique talent, high professional commitment, and dedication to presenting meaningful works.
She was a model of a devoted artist who combined creativity with a message, leaving an indelible mark on the memory of Kuwaiti and Gulf art.
